Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if I lose wireless connectivity?
First, verify that the LiteBeam is powered on and check the signal strength using a WiFi analyzer app. If the signal is weak, try adjusting the antenna alignment. If you still cannot connect, contact the ACES IT Support team.
How often should I check the battery charge level?
Check the Cerbo GX display daily. During daytime with adequate solar generation, the battery should maintain 80-100% charge. If the charge drops below 60%, contact the Power Systems team.
What is the proper procedure for moving a POP trailer?
Always notify ASC management and ACES IT before relocating. Document the current configuration with photos, disconnect all cables, verify the hitch connection, and ensure safety chains are secure. Contact ACES IT if you need assistance.
How do I verify line-of-sight before deployment?
Use binoculars to visually verify that there are no obstructions between the POP location and the main building antenna. Check for trees, buildings, or terrain that could block the 5 GHz signal.
What should I do in case of an emergency?
For immediate safety emergencies, call 911. For AES issues, please contact the local ASC director or manager. For trailer and IT related issues please contact at (575) 646-3305 or aces_help@nmsu.edu. Always work with a partner and never work alone on POP equipment.
How can I get certified in POP operations?
Complete all five training modules and pass the assessments with a score of 70% or higher. Upon completion, you will receive a digital certificate recognizing your POP training certification.
